We are thrilled to make our producing debut in partnership with the fabulous Lauren Yee and the San Francisco Young Playwrights Festival. Core member Jessica Holt is directing the short new play Within the Wall of Sand by new playwrights Benson Ma and Kalson Chan. The play also features Core Members Alex Curtis and Pamela Davis.
A strange and wonderful cross between a Beckett play and the Twilight Zone, with more than a smattering of Biblical allusions. It is about two hobos who find themselves trapped in a deserted motel during an unrelenting sand storm. They discover that this motel provides for their every wish. But it has consequence. It is a morality story that asks the question: "Do we choose our own prisons or are our prisons chosen for us?" Appearances are not what they seem here, and the hobos both learn to be careful what they wish for.
